Western Art: Renaissance thru The End of the 19th Century

Have a passion for art? Learn how tools and technology, social dynamics, and new modes of thinking impact cultures of innovation throughout the Italian Renaissance to the end of the 19th century. Ready to make a change – be part of a challenging group environment? Get a serious workout combining assigned readings from the beautifully encyclopedic “Art Through the Ages” with discussion groups, critiques, writing or art projects, and the “Art History Challenge.” Online resources, such as video documentaries and lectures, pod-casts, may be assigned with online tests. Occasional field study and group trips will be offered at participant’s own expense.

Readings are mandatory. You can purchase your book if you wish at http://www.Amazon.com. This is not a college art history class where grades are issued; although, scoring will be used to test progress on some exercises. There will be a combination of conditioning, strength, and agility exercises. Sessions are not academic or lectures, but more like discussion groups with projects. Lectures may be booked at local institutions as they pertain to material we are covering.

Save on costs:

For last few classes, participants may check out current Gardner’s “Art Through The Ages” book from their local library if available. The Boot Camp Leader will be using the 8th edition. Individual projects and assignments may vary, based on participants’ personal interests.
